Charles Cadieu, Ph.D., is the CEO & co-founder of Spiritus, a leading climate tech company designing solutions for market-accessible carbon removal using direct air capture (DAC). Previously, Charles founded IQ Engines (acquired by Yahoo!/Flickr) and Caption Health (acquired by GE HealthCare).

As co-founder and CEO of Caption Health, Charles led the company to develop an FDA breakthrough ultrasound medical technology that was named a ‘100 Best Invention’ by TIME Magazine. Charles has raised >$100 million for his startups from leading venture (Khosla Ventures, DCVC) and non-dilutive (Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, NSF) funders.

Charles first met Sanmai’s cofounders while doing his PhD at UC Berkeley in Neuroscience, innovating in medical ultrasound, and exploring opportunities to use tFUS for the treatment of mental health conditions.
